240 blaster vs 400ex
#12
It would be awfully close. The Blaster might have it. Depending how good each rider can shift and how quick they can shift. I raced my buddy who has a '03 Blaster with a FMF Fatty on it. And he keeps up until i hit 3rd gear then i start pulling away on my '03 400ex. We have the same tires on the rear and everything. But with the 240 kit he could proabably take a 400ex with out thinking twice.

everybody will tell you somthing diferent and WHO CARES. if you want to know, get on the quad and race. its all going to depend on the terrain, the quad setup, rider size, capability. so yeah, there are blasters that beat 400ex's, but there are 400ex's that beat blasters too. Debating online about who is faster, who can beat who, thats pointless. it proves absolutely nothing. IMO.

same riding ability the blaster def takes it, we race 240 blasters and 400ex's all day at the 300ft dirt track and most of the time the blaster comes out on top........ just what i have seen........

Whitebros, here is a video of a 235 Blaster, ported, 14:1 comp 38mm flat slide carb, no airbox against a 416ex with the works 43.44 hp (see dyno sheet in my pictures)I don't have good Dyno numbers on my Blaster (18" Holeshots spun badly on my dyno)
Both of these bikes beat piped and K+N Raptors in 300ft
RayMaster Blaster

Go , See for yourself - even a stock bore PORTED blaster can walk on Piped shees and EX's. I can do it, i have this guys porting and its simply AMAZING. I'm on stock bore and extreme Drag Porting with milled head and High Revv pipe. I love eevry aspect about it and dirtbikes artn to hard to race either...KX100's are no problem, 125s are close.
Heres part of the post - I love this...
"This race is for all the big bore fans...lol. I am racing a ported 240 big bore that has a fmf pipe and silencer, 35mm carb with clamp on filter, milled head, 108 octane race fuel, carbon fiber reeds, adj. timing plate. I know it was a big bore because later that night he wanted me to take the head off and look to see if I could report his motor to my specs. You can see the results of my wifes .040 over stock sleeved motor, CPCustoms designed port work, stock carb with clamp on filter, toomey b-1 pipe, milled head, ported reed cage, and 4 degree timing advance key.

See for yourselves, this type of porting WALKS OVER PORTED 240s and easily hangs with big bore/hot cam/high compression/piped 440 ex's. He was only a half quad length behind

Just read some two stroke porting books and figure up what kind of porting you want instead of trusting a shop to read your mind then you will always end up with a fast motor. When I went to get my motor ported the guy asked me what kind of porting I wanted and I told him I want the exhaust to open at 90 degrees, be atleast 60% of the bore (its not bridged), blah blah blah.

I still have the 400ex...sold the 240blaster last summer.... I will agree that the 240 blaster was a tad quicker than the 400ex....
but:
I have a piped banshee too.
right....

I have a piped banshee too.
blasters with 240 cylinder kits from ct and vito's can take piped banshees.

well lets see here
blaster with ct 240 kit. 40hp
piped banshee. 42hp
blaster weight. 320lbs
banshee weight. 390 lbs?
It should be a close race. that ct kit comes with everything. pipe, silencer, 240cc race ported cylinder, 35mm kenihen (spelling?) carb, high comp piston. You would need an extended swingarm to keep the front end down and you would need to gear it as high as possible to make it have the top end a piped banshee has but after those mods it should be a close race.
