you need more than just a high peak number.
Thomez you really should buy the January 2004 issue of Hot Rod magazine, there is an article in it called Torque vs. Horsepower it is really interesting...It ends up like this "Remember, you cannot have horsepower without torque, but you can have torque without horsepower! Its called a dump truck."

I know what horsepower is. A fictional number derived from torque.

Lol i see... By the way the hillshooters do shift while racing up a hill just as they do on flat grounds...

I have never done it, but my guess was they launched in 2nd and then pulled the hill in either 3rd or 4th whatever they could, but most of the shifting was done before they got much into the hill and then the rest was pinned in the highest gear they could pull. No?

And I was serious about HP. It is a derived figure.

Nope, they launch in whatever gear their bike is set up to then shift going up the hill till they are pinned in 6th gear going wide open.

And yes horsepower is obtain by multiplying torque x rpm then dividing it by 5252 but if you think it is meaningless then you are way wrong. One hp is the amount of power it takes to perform 33.000 ft-lb of work in 1 min so in a sense horsepower represents the speed at wich the engine will perform its task.

Pinned in 6th would be tough for a lot of those bikes out there that only have 5, but point taken. I don't think that is the case on the steep hills though, I don't think they can pull them in top gear. Maybe they can... whatever.

I know what HP is and what it means to have HP. Whatever ya'll say....

I think maybe 60-65 rwhp out of our scrambler and 70-75 out of our banshee.

hard to pull 6th gear up a hill when most drag banshees dont even have 6th.

Almost everybody pulls 4th up the hill. The big crankers and triple banshees pull 5th. Almost all shifting is done by, or at the base of the mountain
