That's exactly why I said it. I go to church once a week now, but back in the day, I recall waking up drunk and driving heading for a bridge over a river coming down from Killington Vermont. I've done stupid stuff - lots.

Kinda like when you're a kid and do silly/sneaky things as pranks to your neighbors, etc. There's two sides to that game:

the perp kid having a little fun

&

the neighbor having a little fun played on ya

I did stuff as a kid that I now chase other kids for.

As a kid you hope not to get caught and as the adult you hope to catch. Did I deserve to have the sense knocked out of me driving wasted and posing a huge risk to others like that? Sure did. I finally got smart and quit doing those things. Now as a semi-responsible adult, I'd consider it my duty (as we all should) to help in a situation where others are @ great risk. Would you just let someone drive down the street towards a washed out bridge? No.

So go ride drunk all you want, but if you pose a risk to myself or any other person and I happen to be around, I'm going to minimize the risk. Pretty simple.

Shasta, What's up pal... I think we all endulge in a little drinking and riding. I know I do. There are towns up in the North East, where you can ride right into town on the road. Stop off at a bar, grab a few beers to warm up, and then out you go back into the trails. As long as your not wasted, you normally don't crash. But if it happens, I have no one to blame but myself, and I don't think alcohol has anything to do with it, because we not getting totally Sh1tfaced. Further more, When you get up by Canada (Snow Mobile Country) Those guys are in the bar getting tanked, and them drive their machines home at 100+ mph. Now that's nutz!!!! But that is their means of transportation up there. I guess they are used to it.... Just have fun Shasta. It's your sport too!!!!

BTW: Drink all you like. Bring some w/ you when we ride - won't bother me. Just don't expect me to stand by and watch you get wasted then let you ride. Ever heard the "friends don't let friends" line?

BTW #2: Anyone know a bar up @ Killington Vermont called (or used to be) "The Night Spot"? Were you there on New Years eve 1986? Do you remember a guy passed out in his car with the engine running parked right in front of the front door? Me neither. All I do remember is having one hell of a hard time tracking down the doorman to get my keys the next day.

There, I've borne my soul... I'm not posting any more stupid selector stunts unless someone specifically requests it.

I was an avid snowmobiler for about 16 years. Only one time in those 16 years did I get drunk and ride. I scared the $hit out of myself with how poorly and dangerously I was riding. I have not and will not ever drink and ride again. Liquid courage does not mix well with these sports. Guess I'm just getting old.

And for those of you who only drink when you're "tuning" your bike, KEEP RIGHT ON DOING IT! It is always the drunken tuners who have the poorest runing machines and are left scratching their heads wondering why they just got their a$$ kicked so badly.
