Default 2001 Warrior Problems

I am stuck. My warrior is having issues with running. After it heats up for about half an hour, it dies and won't re-start for about 10 minutes. I found so far that the gas cap isn't the problem, it has spark and tries to crank. it smells like I have gas, but it won't start. Has anyone ever had this problem and if so can you help?

I can't say for sure, but my first guess would be the fuel mixture is a bit lean causing overheating and poor starting. You would possibly hear backfires in the exhaust, or possibly a pingy sound when the engine revs higher than idle. The engine won't rev out when in the top end if a lean condition is your problem.

Thank you, It does have those symptoms. I don't understand that much about carbs and mixture yet. I will try having that adjusted.

I have been checking the choke and the ladies that have been learning on it were leaving the choke on at first and keeping the fuel selector in Res then running it out of gas so I have checked into that. Thanks for the tip.

You must first purchase a warrior book from a company such as Clymer which shows the complete assembly of the bike in stock form, then you can learn to adjust the carb needle and richen the fuel mixture. I highly recommend the Edelbrock pumper carb as a mod in the future, its so much simpler to do these changes externally. It really brings out the potential hp in the warrior.
