need help choosing exhaust
#11
Guys, I also spent lots of time looking into all the pipes. I have two complaints about the dirtwheels pipe shootout, but other than that I think it was a good article. They don't show the torque figures and the HP figures they got were not on a fair basis. Fair meaning they used the same bike and dyno BUT the bikes did not all run with the same mods. Some had the stock airbox, others had some airbox mods, some had no lids and some had new air cleaner and jet kits with it. The CT kit had the most mods. No wonder it had high HP figures. I would love to see a new shootout, but the bikes all must run with the same air cleaner and no lid. Depending on the riding you do, some pipes will give more torque low down and others higher up. Some works great for drags and other for trails. The other thing you have to look at is build quality and support. Then also make sure the pipe is within specifications for the area you ride, meaning sound levels and spark arrestor. Don't rush into buying a pipe. Here are lots of posts about pipes. Spend the time reading thru them all and see what people like and hate about the pipes they have.
