Default Help - Buying Used Blaster, engine in box :)

I had a Blaster a few years back and loved it! I have to opportunity now to get a Blaster (not sure on the year), old golf cart and utility trailer all for $350 so....

I'm going to get this Blaster and from what I understand (going to look at it to buy tomorrow) it had "piston problems" and the previous owner was in the process of rebuilding it. So from what I get, the top end sounds like its in a box.

Im a DIYer and want to try to rebuild this thing myself. I am not sure if the guy purchased a rebuild kit or what, but assuming he hasn't, what all do I need to have before I tackle this project (besides a manual from Amazon.com and a set of mechanics tools)? Any special tools, gasket sets or specific parts to replace when rebuilding?

Thanks so much to anyone that has the time to help a girl out!

I would guess you will be needing gaskets, o-rings, sealant, new piston/rings, spark plug and oil. I dont know how long the quad has been sitting, but thats what Im guessing. I would get some good wrenches and sockets. I got a good kit at Sears that had standard and metric sockets, has helped out a lot! Good luck with the rebuild!

Thanks! I have the tools needed, just need a manual, rebuild kit and gasket set I suppose.

By the way, do the "common" Blaster manuals have rebuild instructions/guidelines to go by? I have found a few "how-tos" online to help as well.
