Congrats! You are gonna love it. I got mine last saturday and I love it. Here are a few suggestions.

1. Take the peashooter out of the stock muffler if you are not getting a pipe for it right away. It will make it run better. It is only one bolt on the bottom of the pipe and it comes right out. I went a notch up on my needle to fix it running a bit to lean afterwards.

2. give it two tanks to break in properly. Ride it for 5-10 minutes at varying speeds but lay of going wide open. Let it cool, and then do it all over again. After 2 tanks you should be good to open it up all the way. Before you do, change the oil incase any debris broke loose. Make sure you check all your other fluids as well.

3. Hold on. I have been riding since I was 2 and when the power kicked in I almost lost hold of the grips. I was suprised at how powerful it is. Tomorrow will be my first trip to the dunes with it. I can't wait.

Break it in like your going to ride it.

That's always the way I break in stuff.

The harder you ride it during break in the better it will run... Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise unless you don't want it to run the best it can.

I don't think I totally agree with that. Back in '97 I bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee fully loaded. I drove the wheels off that thing during break in. I made that poor jeep go where no man has gone before. You know what happened? I started hearing noises at 500 milesand I spun a crank bearing and broke a piston ring at 600 miles. I know quads and cars are two different things but they both have internal cumbustion engines. Therefore I don't recommend beating the snot out of it for the first 2 tankfulls.
Stretch it's legs every now and then but don't pin the poor thing wide open while dragging up the dunes. try some fast trail riding to break it in occasionally bringing to red line and back down.
Just my opinion. I learn from experience.

By running it hard I don't mean pinn the throttle in neutral for 20 min. I'm not saying run the thing for 2 miles at WOT, but if you run it hard going through the gears and deaccelarating it WILL run A LOT better than if you baby it pathetically.

A NASCAR motor is also an internal combustion engine like your jeep motor. (aside the major differences) You know how they break them in?...... Put them on the dyno and hold them at 8000rpm for an extended period of time. Quads, bikes, snowmobiles etc arn't made to be babied and if that's how you're gonna break it in then that's how it will run.

How many mile do they put on a Nascar motor? 500 TOPS, 3-3.5 hrs of run time! It gets disassembled after every race and each engine component goes through a visual and mechanical inspection. I am guessing that this guy wants to get some use out of his new atv that he just paid almost 7g's for. If he plans on racing it I'd say yeah break it in like your going to ride it.
