I saw that on a hunting forum that I visit. The pic of the hiker is a very graphic pic.

WoW the size of that grizzly is amazing. I didn't know that a 7mm had that much more force over the.44mag

poor hiker

i dont think it does, but for exaggerations sake and to make the bear seem even more powerfull they said it did...
a 7mm is made for range... it actually has a fairly small lead... a .300 would pack alot more punch and has the same charge as the 7mm.

its like a .270 compared to a 30-06.. same charge.. but one has a bigger lead than the other...

one shot thru the lungs at about 75-100 yards for the deer i got this year with my 06...
i take pride in 1 shot kills... i have never had to put a finish shot on the deer ive shot...
last years deer was a double lung heart on a lil 80 pounder (running like crazy thru the woods i may add)... but hey.. it was the last 15 minutes of the season.. i werent gonna be picky...

I ride in the Allegheny National Forest every memorial day weekend & told my wife that poor hiker is my excuse to get a powerful handgun.
My bro-in-law says to get a 44 with a magazine clip so that way I can carry it when I ride but won't risk shooting myself with the safety on.
What do you guys recommend? Is there another handgun more powerful than the 44? Note: I am referring to a handgun, not a rifle.

thats a pretty powerful gun... the .44 and the .357 are the most powerfull i think... the most powerful common handgun anyway..
why would you go out in alaska with a .38 anyway!!! mine as well carry a .22!!!!!!
