Lol, you wont be falling off the back. By gearing down he means your gear ratios will seem lower. Means youll gain some bottom end, lose some top end, and have to shift more. It wont be a very big difference though.

You gear your bike down by changing the size of your sprockets. To gear down you either subtract teeth from the front sprocket or add teeth to the rear sprocket. Subtracting 1 tooth on the front is about equal to adding 3 teeth to the rear.

Dont worry about it buddy. Its not going to hurt nothing, and you wont really notic a diffrence, but you can always buy a new front sproket (1 tooth bigger) for the front and it will make it normal again and mabey even a little bit higher geared than stock.
