UPDATE!!! Stupid HIDs
#1
Man, traitech sure has dissapointed me. I first got some torchlights and loved them, but after 2-3 rides, they failed and blew a fuse and left me stranded a couple of times. So I talked to Kelly @ trailtech and sent those junkers back and uprgraded to HIDs, well now after a couple of weeks, my d@mn flood HID wont stay on for more than 5-10 min. Im sure trailtech does test these out but man, they just havent been holding up. I mostly trail ride and ride at the dunes, no jumps or MX crazy stuff, mostly dirt roads and soft dunes. I will be sending TT an email and see what can be done. Their products might have poor quality, but they sure look good and they have good customer service. Cali,
Bummer - I feel your pain. I think vibration is really killing TT lights in general - HIDs or otherwise. I used their anti-vibe mounts for the first time over T-giving in the dunes and one desert race (122 miles) and the lights held up pretty good - only one bulb failure so far. Normally I go through a couple. I'm not sure they are ever gonna figure it out, at least not on my nickel !
I'll let ya know how the hillbilly Hellas work for me. Should be wiring them up tonite in preparation for a week of duning. They have lasted years on my trucks, buggys, etc.....hope the prove tough enough.
See ya, Eric

My son has the trailtech lights and the little screws keep coming loose. It really sucks that he worked hard to pay for those things and they look good but cheap inside. I'm going to have to try something to keep those screws in. Any ideas?

I think TT has a different connection method now. Call/Write/complain and they will hopefully help you. They have good customer service. Do ya have the anti-vibe mounts ? If not, your bulbs will likely take a beating too. The bulbs can be found at Home Depot for $5 but keep in mind they are made for track lighting in houses and such - not much vibration there. They sent me the mounts for free after numerous polite e-mails.

Try a little lok tite on the screws. I think its the red you want. Go to a parts store and tell what you want and what its for. I think the blue is the super strong stuff.

Careful with the red - it's the stuff ya cant loosen until ya heat it (sometimes). The Blue is medium. The screws are tiny so I used Blue and they still loosened. I didnt try red cause I thought they'd seize being so small. I ended up removing the connector and replacing it with a slide on type thing - works about as bad !?

I'll second that vote for the blue loctite. Make sure to run the screw in, and then back out to help distribute the loctite on the threads.
As for the TT HID's, witnessed two sets performing perfectly all through the 12 Hours of America. I would definitely give Kelly a call, I'm sure they'll take great care of you.

I dont know if its my bad luck or their quality control, but this is the second set of lights that go bad on me. Im not bashing TT for their lights or anything YET! but my experience with their quality hasnt been that good, customer service gets an A+++++++ though.
