2001 sub frame
#1
Help! I'm looking for a 2001 subframe to be chromed. I would be glad to trade a new 2003 subframe if you need it. I would like one that is in perfect shape in doesn't have to be polished or anything just good eneough for chrome.

01 subframes are popular items for guys trying to drop weight for dragging...they're made of aluminum unlike the 02's and up. why would you chrome aluminum anyway? woudn't you just polish? and can aluminum even be chromed?

you can't chrome aluminum, man...
but, if you are going to blow another $50000000000 on a Raptor, why not just have a custom Cr-Mo subframe made and have it chromed. I believe that LSRacing makes them and you can get them chromed.

okay, I should rephrase that so my thoughts make more sense (take foot out of mouth)... why chrome aluminum when you can anodize it and have a much more durable finish? Chroming aluminum is seriously $$$ and the robustness of the finished product isn't that great.
But then again, are you even going to ride this quad?!? That then begs another question - why use the aluminum subframe off the 2001 Raptor if it is only going to be a show piece. The 2 pounds (IF that) you save with the aluminum subframe vs. a stock steel from the '02-later machines is insignificant as far as weight goes anyway.
