I had a 97 Wolverine all stock except a DG Exhaust and it was one of the best all around machines I've ever ridden. The 4x4 was great for mud and trail riding. The engine is powerful and of course very reliable if well maintained. I never had any mechanical problems at all with the machine.

There are a lot of performance parts avaliable for the Wolverine because it has been in production since I think 1995 and it basically has the same engine as the Warrior. Be warned though that for hunting it would be a great machine but keep the stock exhaust because aftermarket exhausts on the 350 are usually LOUD.

If you are looking to buy a used one the 1995s are a little faster (very little) because of a bigger carb stock. However in 1996 they changed it.

Also look into a Warn 424 I hear they are a must have for the the Wolvy.

Default Wolverine questions

How do they mud? - good with stock tires ... impressive with something a lil more aggressive aka my 489XTs - keep it reasonable on tires though to keep sport appeal
Are they prettty quick? - not that much slower than a Warrior, so yeah - my definition of quickness changed after I got the Cdale though!
Do they have good pulling power? - pretty good, yeah ... not a big bore though, and 1st can be a lil high - overall pulling is very good though
Would it make a good hunting bike? - good? talk about GREAT! but keep the stock exhaust unless you want to scare all the game away
What is top speed? - about 58 stock, I think mine with the taller tires and lil mods is close to 65
Is the 4wd system a good one? bulletproof, but full time 4x4 - a Warn 424 will fix that though, downright awesome!
Do they have good hop up potential? - excellent - FST makes some serious kits for them.... potential is huge
Are they reliable? - again, bulletproof - I change my oil once a year and add gas .. thats it. Clean the air filter when its convenient. Very few, if any, 4x4's are as reliable, cept maybe that Honda 300!

Best all around bike out there... still .... virtually unchanged since 1995. Only competition is the Scrammy500 and its automatic... ewwww!
