Which bike. I hear alot about the Raptor falling apart( carbs, one ways, trannys, etc.). Are they reliable, or am I gonna have to fix it all of the time. Z400 seems pretty nice and reliable, and so does the DS.


I am only gonna spend 5600.00 max. What do you guys think?

 

Raptor Tranny's are fine now Yamaha fixed them in 02. I haven't had one problem with mine. If you take good care of the Quad it won't let you down like with anything.

I've heard the Z400's have a problem with the frame but don't know a lot about them

The DS650 is an awesome bike. very fast and fun to ride.
If I was you it would be a tossup of the Raptor and the DS650.

What do you plan to do with it? what type of riding?

 

if i had money to burn...i'd be lookin at the YFZ450 or the new TRX450 coming from Honda. but if your a big guy? raptor all the way!!

 

Raptors 01' models had bad tranny....that's not the case for 02' and up. Other than that reliability is much like any other high performance quad. Keep up the maintenance and you shouldn't have any problems. They are a little tippy though. Everything you hear about them falling apart is most likely from Raptor haters...those that have never owned one and probably never ridden one so I wouldn't pay much attention to the bias crowd.

Z400, great bike from what I've heard but certainly not as much power as a Raptor or DS.

DS, very fast and lots of torque...a little on the heavy side though.

Ride these if you can and decide which you like best. They all have good qualities.

What kind of riding are you going to do? Dont get the yfz unless you want to stand up all the time cause the back shock is very stiff and it hurts your back. Are you ever going to consider a banshee? Its fast!!! The raptor and the DS 650 are nice quads it all comes down to which has more upgrades and are they easy to maintain. I got a 2001 raptor and i run it hard as hell never had any trannie probs!!!

Go rappy all the way.. Its far better then the Z and DS, It beats the Z in power and speed and the DS does not have reverse and the rappy looks way better.... But i was told the DS is a little faster but why have a quad with no reverse when you can? and the rappy looks way better!!>>>JMO

I have had all 3. Depends on your size. If your over 195 lbs get the DS, it rides like a cadillac, if under, the Raptor then the Z. I love my raptor but love the ride of the Z.
