i was comparing atvs in the atvsport magazine, and i noticed that the raptor doesn't weigh as much as the predator 500, or not even close to the v-force 700, does the raptor have like a light weight chassis?

just struck my mind, the stock raptor is 398 lbs dry, and the predator 500 is 412, and the v-force is like 514lbs,,, is lighter better?

thanks

later

If your REALLY wanting light. Check out the new Yfz and Trx. Both check in at 350lb. They all have their enviroment, just pick your poison.

Yep, lighter is always better. Yamaha porked up the Raptor for 02 and never changed the dry weight.....and I would bet the 01 did not weigh in at under 400lbs either. The 02 up Raptor is heavier than the Predator. Predator = cowboy seating + headpipe that instantly starts rusting when you sign your name. It screams when cornered too... .

LMAO! WHat about the DS650 slogan "it pounds the trails mercilessly". With it's weight, it actually does pound the trail.....wait until the tree huggers see that...LMAO!

On specs they over weigh them a few pounds also. not many like 3-7 pounds. If that makes a difference to you. But lighter is better. Even the 400ex is lighter than the raptor.

unless your racing or hitting some big jumps dont worry too much about the weight...just get the one you like best and go ride...

ALPHARAPTOR - Or when you get it stuck and have to lift it to get it out! lol I agree totally, lighter is better if you concerned with 'racing' but for trail riding, a lot of people like to have reverse. I personally don't need it, and didn't use it on my Scrambler. Others feel the new Honda TRX450R should have electric start instead of the kick start. Again, another way to shave weight. FLYNBRYAN is correct as far as I know, the lightest 4 Strokes out now are the Honda TRX450R and the Yamaha YFZ450.
