on Rockymountainatv, Must purchase the Snorkel kit to work with the Dial-A-Jet, part #
DJ510.
do I need to order it? cuz on thunderproducts.com it doesn't say anything about me needing to order the snorkel kit, but it says its recommended
so do I really need to? because rockymountain does't carry it.
anyone?

The reason thunder products only recommends it is because the DAJ was designed orignally for Snomobile users.... snow on ground yields very little dust in air. As for the quad world, I would not run mine without the snorkel.. just snags the dust that is in the air prior to it entering into the DAJ.
The adjustment on them is quite simple. There is a brass screw that holds the unit either directly to your carb or to the included zipstrap you can use around your airbox to carb hose. Anyway, simply loosen the brass screw, turn the white adjuster (making sure it clicks into position) and then re-tighten the brass screw. One must make sure that they are tuned properly before adding the DAJ. Then, when adding the unit, drop 2 mainjet sizes.. there must be a lean condition for the DAJ to do it's job. So, if you don't already have the necessary jets, order them when you order your DAJ.. otherwise, you'll spend time waiting on them to arrive, or make that trek to the expensive place (dealership).
Good luck and I hope this answers your questions.

I almost forgot, I do like mine and they are pretty simple to install. I did it the hard way and mounted it directly to the carb.. the simpler method would be to use the zipstrap and mount it to the airbox hose.
I think they help out with the transitions between circuits and smooth out the power delivery.
Good Luck.

hmm....i have to make it run lean.....well....It runs rich now..so is there any place I can order individual jets online instead of buying a big kit? If I can, i'll jsut put it about 5 or 6 sizes down from stock and put the dial-a-jet on...but I dont want to buy a big kit. anyone know of a site I can buy individual jets?

5-6 sizes may be way to far. Like I said, you need to be close before adding the DAJ. otherwise, you might be missing the boat entirely. lol.
I bought my individual jets from Chaparral. http://www.800-841-2960.com will get you to their web site. I ordered mine and did have some difficulties with them sending the wrong ones. I ended up finally getting the last couple I wanted through a local dealership for about $3-3.50 each.
Call around, tell them you are looking for the mikuni large round main jets. They should be able to get em for ya. Any shop that caters to snowmobile riders will have them in stock.
