10 Hour Maintenance
I'm nearing 10 hours on my 2004 Wolverine, and I'm wondering how crucial it is to take it to a dealer for the recommended service check-up. Other than changing the oil (which I can do myself), is there anything else I should be concerned with that would be best left up to a dealer (i.e. valve adjustment, etc.)?
Either way, I guess I don't really have any way of getting the quad there. Should I be worried about this?
Thanks everyone!!

Wait until 20 hours. Go buy yourself a Service manual. They will save you money. You already have given the dealer enough money. Save your money and do it yourself. Plus it's way funner to do it yourself. After 20 hours though...
check chain for tension
change oil
lube up grease zirks (if have them)
check nuts and bolts with a Torqe wrench
--------that's all i can think of right now

You should adjust the valves when you are changing fluids. You have an owners manual....look in the periodic maintenance chart and don't skip anything. If you cant adjust valves...let your dealer do it!
We love it when people mess up their engines because someone talked them into self service or skipping service. Dealers are not crooks. If we did not have our service dept, we'd close our doors and our customers would not have a place to buy units, get warranty work done, get accessories and free advice. Get a Yamaha factory manual if you're going to do it yourself. Clymer and Haynes manual suck when doing major engine work! I know from 15 yrs experience as service manager.
I hope this advice helps you out.
