Warrior Vs. 400EX
#1
First of all I don't want to know what bike would win a drag/mx/hill climb LOL
You can see what I have from my sig, and my question is thus ... I plan on doing filter/jet/box mods in the not too distant future, and after that is done, I know I will still be shy in HP of the stock EX but realistically anwer me this:
how much more punch/pickup does a stock EX have over the mods I plan on? I know it's quicker and slightly faster on top end, handles better, blah blah blah. I like the pull I have right now on the Warrior when I punch the throttle in 3rd, 4th, 5th and it can only get better with filter/jet/box. Will I notice a lot more punch on a stock ex? I figure with my mods done and tuned in I'll probably be making around 24hp ... or a little less. I'm beginning to get more interested in an EX and keep the Warrior for my wife. I like the thoughts of the better handling, power, suspension .. and wheelieing capabilities.
Any opinions? Please no Warrior bashing!!!

A Ex has 26 to 27 hp stock. Good Luck with beating one. It's going to take more than just a filter, jets, and a box. I do like how the Warrior drives though. But the 400ex will win. Unless you plan on putting $1000.00 into your Warrior.

a 400ex isnt that much faster than a Warrior at all.......I Hate people that think there 400ex's can beat a warrior (more than half of the time they havent even raced.).....now yes...a 400ex is better.......but a Warrior isn't NEAR as far behind it as most people say.

24 horsepower is a bit much for a warrior with a slip on and air box mods. I would say more like 22. The warrior may have a little bit more low end grunt but once you hit midrange the 400ex will start to pull away. find a used 400, buy it, and enjoy.

you don't need one but they are good to have. If you run without an air box lid I would highly recomend one. they keep the larger particles of dirt form reaching the filter itself.
