Its quite obvious that honda always puts their time into their quads, figuring out things that may go wrong, thats why people who have seen Tim farr a while back "secretly" testing the 450r to find things that might break. How do you know if honda hasnt been working on it since they came out with the 400ex? Now, wheres your info?

 

What ever year the 426 came out for Yamaha I think was 00 or 01 was the same year they started working on the yfz quad. Also the dirt bike was one mean machine, but got bumped up to the 450 at the end of 02. I have heard that the yfz has been in plans for 4 or 5 years about the same time the 400ex got released and Yamaha was going to follow suit on that but never did.

Also remember all the Dirt Wheels that had spy photos and everything else about the Raptor months before it came out, and only 2 issues about the yfz450 before it came out. So the only people that really knows when the planning of the yfz450 started is those at Yamaha.

 

Yah, most of the stuff people say is just stuff they heard from people and so on. i remember when i think it was atv action had a spy photo of the raptor whatever issue that was, calling it the "super warrior". like i said, most of its just rumors passed down.

yamha definetly makes a good bike, but you have to hand it to suzuki for making the first 4 wheeler. you are absolutely right 14mins yamaha always seems to come out with everything first, then other companies following( honda,suzuki) first yamaha came out with a 450, then its (obviosly going to be honda) then possibly suzuki, i read they were working on a 450.

I do know that since Honda has made the announcement of there 450R that is has put a damper on Yamaha's sells of the YFZ. The local dealership hasn't sold there 2 that they have sitting on the floor and they have been there for 2 months. They told me there waiting list for the 450R is growing by the day and they have no one interested in the YFZ. Then I read that there is a lot of you guys waiting for to get your hands on a YFZ. I guess it is were you live that makes something a popular seller.

You know if you think about it, with all of these high performance bikes coming out that are so close in speed to one another, its like the muscle car days are back. HemiCudas, Roadrunner 440 sixpac, Dodge Challenger with a Hemi, Mustang GT-500 with a 428 Cobra Jet, Plymouth GTX, Mercury Cougar XR-7, Yenko Carmaro 427, Vette with the L88.....etc.....Good competition
