Default Question!?

i always thought that a piped and jetted banshee will stomp a piped raptor but i have raced about 12 banshees and i only got out ran once. (my cousins) and he had the works( pipe, jetted, port and polish thirty over, 39 mm carbs, boysen reeds, weisco pistons. Im not trying to get people with piped and jetted banshees railed up i just am wondering why. my dad had always been a big 2 stroker (LT250) and he told me that banshees piped will eat piped raptors. and every guy i race on their banshee has all kinds of crap ive herd cool heads, bored so many over, carb kit, but not a port and polish that my cuz has. Heres another question does a P&P make that much of a difference

Default Question!?

when talking about what you've raced and beaten...you need to add how far the race was. alot of people don't race over 300ft. which really doesn't tell you much. within the 300 ft mark alot of quads come close. for instance a 400ex vs a raptor in a 3ooft drag should put the raptor a quad length or two out front. now at first the ex owner...thinks hey thats not to bad...after all, you have a 260cc advantage. i should have gotten stomped.

hold on skip...had that race gone another 100 to 200 ft. that diffrence would have gotten drastically diffrent. and the term "blown away" comes immediately to mind and fits.

so in all fairness...give the banshee another run...at 500ft. then you'll see that thing wake up...and then you'll know where they got their name from. whats the banshee hits it powerband...look out and keep your mouth closed.

Default Question!?

Kuz28,

I can't help but argue. From my experience, the farther the race, the larger the win for the raptor (in a piped vs piped race). I feel like the banshee gaines most of its ground in the 2-4 gear range. It seems to me that once both quads have gotten into the upper gears, the banshee is running wide open while the raptor is still climbing (with its slower winding four stroke) and as the banshee tops and both quads are at equal speed, the raptor is still climbing in revs and begins to further pull away. This has been the scenario every time I have raced a banshee (back when mine was only piped and jetted).

A piped raptor that is correctly jetted will not be outrun by a banshee with only pipes and jetting.

Default Question!?

Houndog: your absolutely right the more ground the more the rappy wins. my point was in the 300ft drag or less. most quads are close in that stretch. i'm not saying the banshee's going to win...i'm just saying...unless you race these quads further than 300 feet. you won't see what etither machines true potential are. i have lost to only a few banshee's and have beaten many myself. but the ones that have beat me pulled hard in the end and there front ends began to rise. i was impressed.

i know better than to debate you my friend...my fingers won't allow me to go down that road with you again. lol

btw...hows ya cows?

Doing fine.

I see what you are trying to get across. You are comparing the top speeds of the machines. I will agree with your point... Don't tell the drag boys though.

Default Question!?

This really depends on the terrain, and the riders ability to hook up on the terrain. For instance, say you raced on loose dirt; The banshee guy winds up his engine drops the clutch in 2nd gear. He is spinning his brains out, while the raptor has a more mild start and gets traction for the hole shot. Same race on sand, my money is on banshee. Same race on asphault, my money is on the best rider.

Default Question!?

My example was assuming riders of equal weight and experience on hard pack with stock tires or sand with paddles. (Just to be clerical)
