87Banshee250sx hit it on the head. The new four strokes have soo much torque that they can pull taller ratios, so they do not need that many gears. Plus imagine the weight savings as well. As a matter o' fact... the Yzf450(dirt bike) that the European factory riders use overseas only run 3 speed transmissions! Its just a better design to run as few moving parts as possible.

eh, its sick what the internet has done to these kids today
. As a matter o' fact... the Yzf450(dirt bike) that the European factory riders use overseas only run 3 speed transmissions! Its just a better design to run as few moving parts as possible.
