hi, this is sn0wriders friend posting, I am gonna buy a quad, but im 5"6 127pds..road some of his quads like his ex and kfx, now i am deciding on what quad to get, i'd ride trail and a good snow bike, which one of those aare right for me -----^?

 

Any one of the 400's is a perfect starter bike. Work your way up to the bigger ones.

 

ok, im thinkin about gettin a used modded 400ex, but do you really use your reverse alot?

 

well cannondales are just awesome...fuel injected 440 ooo yeah, can you say fast?

raptor.....probably the best trail bike out....very fast, not as fast as any cannondale(I dont think so??)

400ex, a very good quad all around...lacks reverse...but still fast and nice suspension....out dated...air cooled.

Z/KFX-Better, Faster, and Handles better than the 400ex. Has reverse and is liquid cooled.


You couldn't go wrong with any of them.....but If i were you based on your size, I'd go with KFX/Z 400.....unless u want more power, tehn go for the Raptor....and if you are racing....C-dale

 

No, I hate it, I never use it, I wish I could get rid of it but it costs too much to do. I will soon be riding the yfz450. I've been told that the less you use reverse, the better off your tranny is. Alot of the 01 Raptor owners who have had no problems is probably from not abusing the reverse gear. If you trail ride alot you may want reverse, I don't know anything about kfx/z 400's having any tranny problems. I ride a Yamaha and they're notorious for tranny problems. Let us know what you decide.

ok....but i heard alot of c-dales had problems...and most likely i'll get a 400ex cuz i only got 4,000, sure i can't find any kfx's or z's for close to 4,000...so you guys never use reverse? and what are some bad years for the 400ex, to make sure i dont buy a bad year...thx

 

one of my cousins has a suzuki z400 and it is a pretty nice bike. we ride throughout the year and it does good in every scenerio. we just rode this weekend and we raced around a field track (overgrown weeds) and he kept up with my raptor. the track is more turns then straight-aways and the snow and ice pretty much evens every quad out. he never seems to fall behind in the winter or in the summer. we mostly trail ride and it has kept up with mine. if i were going to get another quad, it would more than likely be a z400.

 

i doubt i can find a z400/kfx400 for 4,000..

 

It's just me Im sure that feels this way, I bought this bike before the yfz and 450r generation. I don't regret it there's just some things on it I don't really need such as reverese and electric start.
