Can I use most any grease for air filter?

Default Can I use most any grease for air filter?
Do I have to use a speciality air filter grease on the edge of my air filter that contacts the air box or will most any grease do? I wonder if the specialty grease is just specialty packaged.

most any grease will do just as long as it catches dirt

I have waterproof marine wheel bearing grease in all my grease guns, so I use that, I figure that way it won't let any water past,either, and it is cheap.
