How do you record with one of those cams? My camcorder has a video out but I dont think it has video in. What about audio? I want to record some of my drag races and my trail rides south of the border. Let me know guys!!!

You have to get a camcorder with Anolog input which most sony's have. I got a JVC GR90u I believe thats what it is and it has the connection. For sound, you just need to ad a mic to the audio portion of the anolog cable.

One of the forum members showed up at St Anthony with one of these and rode with Selector, KGB, and I rode with them for a while. Forgive me, I can't remember the guys name, he rode a DS650.
He had the bullet cam on top his helmet and a digital camcorder in the backpack. No audio mike, and so the sounds were pretty muffled. But he put music to it all anyway, with low background of engine sound, so that part worked well.
In my experience the helmet cams work best because your body soaks up the bumps and the picture is surprisingly smooth. I took an old helmet and put a stud thru the top, and screwed my regular 8mm hanidicam to it like a tripod mount & took films. It was a little high, and you couldn't see the handlebars most of the time so you didn't get that riding perspective as much, but it took great movies. I looked like the biggest circus geek in the dunes but I'm used to that. Riding videos from a helmet cam, plus other videos, all mixed together with music and such, makes an awesome tape to get you through the winter!

That bullet camera easily mounts on my helmet. I placed velcro around the camera and stuck velcro under my right side visor and it gives me a great view, just have to point it up a little cuz at first I was getting only the handle bars and 3 ft in front of my bumper but I really like it.

I recently bought a small digital camera(sharp #vl-z3u)and i made a bracket for the side of my helmet out of a gimbal mount for a gps and it works great and although i have only had it out once it took very good quality images with the sound to go along with it.The day i took the camera out it was very rough on the dunes but the camera has image stabilization which seemed to do a very good job. After mounting my bracket i found out that the placement of the camera is critical to get the proper perspective so that you are not filming the ground directly below or are aiming up at the sky but once i got the gimbal adjusted correctly it worked very well and the view on film is very much what you see from the seat while riding.I will say that you get some very strange looks while wearing the camera but the images it will capture should make it worthwhile.

I actually took a piece of wire, and stuck it to the side of the helmet, and bent it so it went in front of my eye. There, it was bent into a small square that I looked through. I had someone look through the camera at a fixed object while it was on the helmet, then bent the wire "sight" so it was lined up on the same thing. Bingo! I see what the camera's seeing, so I can take more accurate movies and look like the mad scientist on Back to the Future all at once.

the ones i've seen that I would buy are these:
http://www.helmetcamera.com/index.htm
http://www.jonescam.tv/helmet-cam.html
either one of these should do the job and are designed specifically for helmet cam use. the military uses them both.
