1st of all, when did yammi win the 1st round. As far as I know the honda has won every race it has been in. And dont whine and say it is because of Farr, your saying Ellis and Creech aren't great riders.

First of all, the title of the article "Farr wins Honda's first 450R Pro event" indicates that this was the 450R's "FIRST" win, which indicates that it is the FIRST time it has won in this series. If you read the whole article, it even says "The machine seemed to perform ten times better than it did a few weeks earlier at the Anaheim season opener.", which I believe was won by Keith Little on board a YFZ, second went to a Z and Farr took 3rd.

Second, Please tell me that none of you believe for one second that the Quads being raced by the Professional riders even remotely resembles the Quad that you can purchase from your local dealer. The idea that these RACE Quads are stockers with pipes and a decal package is Laughable, and by way of the Pro Series Races, proove NOTHING as to which Quad will perform best for John Q public.

We need to step back a little and let the machines do the talking. The REAL Quads, not a bunch of pumped up Race machines. JMO

RPM, like I said as far as I know, I didn't know the R was running in a series yet. That is still pretty impressive results being the only one running.
But, I agree w/ u, u can't compare hopped up race quads and let the machines do the talking. The R has not been out long enough to make a good comparison yet.

Maybe we should wait and see what the average rider can do with these quads before you form an opinion, afterall the 450r isn't even available yet. Let's see who wins after a few mods and they race up say Olds hill at Glamis with me riding the honda woohoo!!!

I dont think that yamaha will bother upping the displacement by 10 or 11 cc. It would be too much money to re-tool all of the manufacturing equipment. Besides, they already have a performance advantage and modification advantage over the trx450r. Wouldnt be good business sense.

Once again the Yamaha folks are out to bash the Honda riders. Yamaha finally makes a quad that can go fast and handle. Hmmm, let's see Honda has been doing that for years. Yeah, Yeah - you are fast in a straight line with your banshees and your Raptors. I get it. The YFZ is a good machine, but let's face it. It is purpose built. That is fine. Hmmm, why didn't everyone that had 400ex's buy the YFZ. The ergos suck and it will beat the hell out of you on trails (this from YFZ owners)

If you are going to MX and just play on the dunes, get the YFZ. If you plan to MX, ride trails, play on the dunes, and want to do it for more than a few hours without as much fatigue- buy the 450R. I really doubt that 2hp is going to make my rides any less enjoyable. I know that I will be getting an equally comfortable quad upgrading from the 400ex with very comparable power to the YFZ. Dirtwheels did say the drags were dead even at 200 yards, and the 450r was very close to the YFZ on everything else- hill shoots etc.

I commend Yamaha for making the YFZ, but it still has much to be desired. Some people ride a combination of environments and want a quad that will be a good all around fit. The raptor owners are just pissed that another quad outperforms theirs. Sorry.

Plus people are forgetting that the TRX is $400.00 less than the yfz....

I like both quads, but I am found of the YFZ450 just because I own all Yamaha's. I piped and jetted one a few weeks back and I was sold on it. Can't wait to find one cheap.

Great post learning2fly

The majority of riders ride trails, a race bike is going to be higly modified anyways, why not build it closer to a all around bike from the factory. Just as long as there is a good frame and strong engine it will win races with the mods that racers put into them.

Learningtocrawl- it is not bashing. Honda sits on there butt for years cramming 400ex's down the dealers throat. All the other makers up the ante and produce a much better quad than the 400ex. Then honda answers with the trx450. LOL 400 dollars less and 1500 dollars short of the goodies standard on the yamaha450.

Yeah i quess it is bashing.

All i can say is honda improved the 400ex. lol If honda did not plan on the trx being a compition quad why did they leave the electric start off?
