mojavekid, i think your getting gas/oil ratio and gas/air ratio mixed up.

 

Leave your mixing alone and re-jet the atv properly before melting the top end down.

 

Also oil makes the fuel thicker and harder to get through the main jet.

 

Yes I do agree, if you have a good mix that isnt fouling plugs or spitting spooge, the rejetting is usually quick and easy. I just threw that out there because I usually play with the mix ratio a bit before i finallize my jetting. Alot of people seem to run may too much oil in there mix. With the newer oils you can run way less oil especially if you are a lower rpm range rider. Basically just find a good oil and ratio and stick to it. After that change jetting, but if you are really experienced and you are running a mixture of say 32-1 or less, you can drop the amount of oil to richen up your engine a bit. On the flip side you can add a bit more oil to lean it out, but you risk fouling plugs. Just a few thoughts to ponder on, lol

Other guys, thanks for the info on the fuel/oil mix. My father and I owned trx250rs, 250 trikes, and i had some cr dirt bikes. We just changed to 4 stroke because its getting hard to find a good honda 250 for a reasonable price, and the only 2 stroke in production is the banshee. (polaris doesnt count, sorry). My cousin just bought an 02 shee with fmf fattys and silencers and gets his info from a guy who, to my knowledge, never rejets his own shee. I didnt believe that it was a viable option to ignore jetting, but of course my cousin would not believe me. He wouldnt even believe you guys here on the forum either, he and his family are like that...[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img] Anyway, I just wanted to be sure that I was not out of the loop on some new revolutionary way to steer clear of the carbs. There are many variables involved. The only one that you can really make constant is the premix ratio. Tunimg is much easier when you deal with a least one constant. So tell him to quit crying and rejet the dang thing. At least he only need 2 jets at a time, lol. I need 3. I dont know how my price compares, but i pay right a $20 with tax for 3 mains. If I wanna try 2 or 3 sizes then I am looking at 20-40-or 60bucks, lol. Guess thats the price to play.

 

it was NEGITIVE 37 out with about a foot of snow, i also find 2 stroke dosnt agree well with large quanties of snow.
