Dealers in MN are selling the Raptor at official MSRP of $6499 plus shipping & setup ($150), license, and tax. The dealer showed me his allocation sheet. The sheet shows how many of EACH COLOR are coming during each allocation.

instructor, my total out the door was $6801.50. No tax as I will be hauling hay with it on the farm (as far as they are concerned).

My dealer has not received his list of what is arriving. He said that there was a delay from Yamaha and that he should know what he is getting within a couple weeks. The delay was in the paperwork, not in production of the bikes, so sometime in August I should be riding the Raptor! YEEEEE HAAAAA!

The MSRP has nothing to do with the out the door price. Yamaha sets an MSRP based on their cost to produce plus an acceptable margin (profit) for both Yamaha and the dealer. The dealer then pays for the shipping (which varies by geographic location; look on a car's window sticker. you pay it there also) and must use their personnel to set up the bike for delivery. The doc fee is for the paperwork through the business office. These add-ons are not extra profit, but the cost of making the product available for sale. By having the consumer pay these charges, the dealer maintains the margin established by Yamaha. On a less desirable bike, the dealer is more willing to negotiate so that he can turn the inventory without carrying the cost (interest on inventory), and is satisfied with a lower margin. But we all know that the Raptor is in demand and they will sell all they build right now. I truly believe that the dealers are not trying to gouge us, but make the margin set by Yamaha. Yamaha did a helluva job getting the Raptor produced for the $6499 MSRP, still $500 less that Cannondale or Bombardier.

Here in Tucson, you can get one for 7100 out the door. That is MSRP plus tax, liscencing, and the normal dealer stuff. If you tell them that you are not going to pay more that MSRP they will tell you thanks for stopping buy. One dealer I frequent has 17 coming in first shipment and all have deposits on them. They will be coming in Aug through Dec. Second shipment starts in December and they are not anticipating a huge shortage. They are also working deals with dealers back east to get more units since a Raptor will sit in a dusty corner with a Banshee while utility atvz move. If anybody wants the name of the dealer I am refering to just e-mail me.

Well thanks for all the info.It definitly pays to shop around. Went to a couple of dealers today and called all of the rest and man do the price fluctuate or what? I was told anywhere from $7134 ($6499+tax+license,no mop and glo) to $7900 ($6499+tax+freight+setup+doc etc).....These were out the door figures. Which one would you order?

I'd probably call another dealer in a neighboring state to see what they are selling for. I'd sure drive 4 - 5 hours to save couple hundred bucks.

I paid 6823.95 for my black and white Raptor. 6499 base price and 324.95 for taxes. No shipping prep or other charges. My dealer said he is thinking about raising the price if the demand is high but as of 2 days ago there were only 2 of the 12 that he is getting between his two dealerships reserved. He told me they will have some August 17. I can't wait.

there is no tax in arkansas on Farm Machinery. Heheh, all you have to do is own more than 3 acres of land and declare it for farm use. then you pay NO Tax.
