wteceraserman does have a very fast and unique quad and i got a chance to see it on the dunes and the ktm 520 motor would seem to be a good choice for a production quad.I was able to race up a 300 foot sandhill against wteceraserman on his ktm powered quad a couple of times and against my 686 raptor which is no slouch it was all i could do to stay even with him.I would be very interested in a ktm production quad because between what i saw of wteceraserman with his quad and the way the dirt bikes perform on the dunes i think it would be a winner.

snowrider,
That price you gave is the same MSRP range as the dirtbike.
I am a KTM dealer, and believe me, if there was anything remotley close to what you described, I would have it listed on my profile with "coming soon" attached........LOL
KTM, the then parent company of Husaberg, did have a quad at the 1998 dealer show. The one at the show was powered by a Husaberg 501. The production models had 400s and 600s in them. They were called the Enforcer.
You can find pics of these quads all over the net since they were in official production for about 6 months.
I have a pic of one of them on my picture page that came off of the dealer literature I received while I was there.
Also check out the pic of the 1997 ATK 601. There are only a couple dozen of them floating around.

The bike on the top of this page uses the engine from the 604:
http://www.americandirtbike.com/toppage11.htm
It's a Rotax engine as seen in Bombardier ATVs. But the 604 was unique, it was never used by Bombardier in ATVs as far as I know. I could be wrong.

I was at a local mc/atv machine shop called Lindsay Machine having some work done on my Dale. Dave Lindsay will be at round 1 GH against Farr and others. Brian who has worked at Lindsay Machine forever told me he rode the ATK605 quite a bit. He had good and bad things to say about it. He also demo'd the the DS650 back in 97/98 before it came out in front of three French engineers. He was a top pro out west for many years until he gave it up and passed the torch to Dave Lindsay..
