Default domes for a banshee

i have a 1998 banshee and i was wondering if i should get domes for it i have been reading about them and it says that you can increase and decrease your compression but i dont understand why you would want to decrease your compression how would that help the performance of your machine.

To use domes you need an aftermarket head. increase comp for more power. Decrease makes you slower.

You dont. But say that you have a stock engine and it has a cool head with 20cc domes giveing you 160 compression. Then you want to increase the timeing on your bike by +4 this will cause you comp to go up to a level about 165. This is really close to the point of haveing to run mixed 50/50 race and regular gas. If you dont want to pay 3.55 a gallion you can put in 21cc domes and bring it to like 150 then you are safe on pump gas. Other than that not sure.

More compression increases lowend but decreases your topend. So you can drop compression to let the motor rev out more.

Yeah, but do you spend more time at WOT in 6th gear, or at 2000-5,000 RPM?

There is a point where you know what your bike CAN topend at and you stop worring about using it as a bragging right. Instead, you use the fact that your bike makes so much low-mid that it will pick the front end up in third by rolling on the throttle.
