Default aftermarket rod installation cost.

I just had a small home town shop install a Carrilo rod for me. I brought them just the block with no cylinder.
So, I take it they didnt balance the crank then? That is dangerous!! I would have sent them the piston as well.

I did give them the piston. They also bored the cylinder, but I put it all together. I think there is confusion on the different ways or way to balance a crank. I know you have to figure the bob wieght, wich is the wieght of the piston and rod. I never asked the shop what they did to balance the crank but they build alot of race bikes. So do they spin the crank on balancer and take away or add wieght to the crank? I might call the shop and ask, but I know this engine runs smooth with no vibration.

You get what you pay for on the rod install. Just ask michealAZ and a couple of others how it feels to ride a trinity 686 without a balanced rod if it will stay together long enough. I used a local shop to have a rod put on once. They beat the living hell out of my crank and still had the nerve to chage 75 dollars. The price fallicon chages is cheap for the job they do. They have everything set up to do the raptor crank. There work is perfect. The price varies a little depending on how much weight they add or do not add. The local shop just crammed everything on and Bob Craycraft had to redo most of it. He has the measerments and stuff in his vault. The local shop did not even try to get it right.

660--the 50 bucks sound ok for rebuild and true, way to little for a real balance job.
