163 hp eh? yea and then a saturn should have about 400 .hp...

This is what I read on Yamaha's Euro website about this motor out of the XT660R "crossover" motorbike:

"Only the displacement of 660 cc was carried over from the former engine used in the XTZ 660 Téneré.

The new single features a new 4 valve cylinder head with larger diameter valves and is feed by a fuel injection system. To make this high performance single benefit from the latest technology developments, a new aluminium cylinder runs a forged piston in a ceramic composite plated bore."

It says the motor is totally new.

Here is the link if you want to read:

I think that HP rating is a little high!! Most pure sport street bikes like the Ninja 750's don't make that kindov HP!!! I'd say around 50 or so!

Not likely . Probly the most from the factory would be around 50hp and thats a stretch . Torque could go higher hard to say .
And for those who say this is a tottaly different engine than the raptor 660 . Thats true and you could also say the engines in the SZR660's of the mid 1990's are totally differnt . Because they didnt have reverse . Looking at this new Motard engine ( XT660 ) the basic lay out is almost the same as YFM660
I guess My point is Wouldnt take much to bolt one into a raptor especialy if the bottom end is the same on the XT engine as it is on the YFM .
Love to see it happen
