Note: I've read in more than a couple of places about the Exhaust Cam in the YFZ being from the WR bike. Acording to Yamaha, it's neither the WR or YZ cam.


I just thought I would gather all this info and post it in one topic so that it would be easy for both you guys and myself to find at a later date if needed.

I will do the same concerning the TRX450R in the next couple of days.

I have one question though ... are you sure the generator covers are the same??

The YFZ has the extra gears for the electric start to accomodate while the YZ450F does not. If they are the same Id like to get the motorcycle cover since I have the kick starter

Yamaha calls their far outside right crankcase covers "generator covers" whether or not it actually covers the generator or the clutch.....which in the YFZs case IS the clutch.

Years of having it heard called that from Yam....I don't think twice about it.

To sum it up, no....the cover that covers the generator on the YFZ is different than the bike ofcourse with the starter boss cast in on the quad, and I don't know yet if the YZ cover will fit the quad or not.

Probably the difference in the WR cam and the YZF is the decompression mechanism. I think the lift/duration is still the same. I might be wrong too.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
