Default Learning the ins and outs

I just got off work, I couldnt help but go out just about every hour and look at my new raptor, even on break I got it out and road it around the parking lot. My question is, what are some good materials to read so that I can learn the ins and outs of an engine. I know some basic stuff such as sprockets (getting bigger teeth, and smaller teeth for more top end, or more bottom end). But I want to stuff about cam workings, carb settings, pistons, compression, and the list goes on. Maybe I should switch my major for electrical to mechanical engineering. Thanks for any advice. If you know of any books please point them out too.

it's relatively all pretty simple in a single cyl. engine.

you should go buy an old junk engine from your local scrapyard and take it apart, figure out what all the parts are, and see if you can put it back together successfully
