YFZ on the trails

So what do you guys think of the YFZ on the trails? I know it's a great mx'er and has a ton of power but I also want something that will be good in the woods. Is it easy to drive slow with? Or is it like a 2 stroke that wants to be wide open all the time?

They are a great trail bike in my opinion but i do ride as hard as i possibly can all the time. I would agree that if you just want to "cruse" they are not a good choice because like you said they have 2 stroke tendecies or likes to be ridden in the higher revs. It depends 100% on your riding style

The seat is also not very good for extended trail rides .. if you're getting one for that purpose, you might also want to get some stocks in Charmin (the quilted toilet paper company [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img])

Well I don't really want one just for trail riding. I want it for mx, trail riding, ditches, and some gravel pits. I have a 250r set up for mx right now and although it is a blast on the track, it really sucks on any tight trails because of the low clearance, no torque, and engine wanting to be wound tight all the time. If I got a yfz I would probably just leave the stock shocks, a arms, axle, tire size etc. But I would probably add a pipe, jet it, air filter, lid, cam mod etc.

I've done a couple hundred miles on the trails with the YFZ. It is better than my Warrior on the trails because of the power. The reason the Warrior is better on the trails is because of the seat and the reverse.

OMG.. How do you manage with that bike on the trails guys??? I really cant take it, its an eternal wedgie, sits weird for me, and small. I wasnt too impressed with it on the trails. Itll feel like your 250R a lot, youll be on the clutch a lot, and has a two stroke some what powerband.

I like the YFZ for the trails but not for a lazy trail ride. If you are an aggressive rider and put on a 13 tooth sprocket and back off the preload and compression on the shocks it's a pretty amazing ride. The seat softens up a bit after awhile. You can always add more foam to the seat if it's too hard. Otherwise, get a Vforce for trail riding. If you want something more aggresive then the YFZ is awesome. The Z400 would bet in between somewhere!
