Default What size tire suggested-450 Kodiak/who's cheapest?

I got all excited about some used Kenda Bearclaws and now realize they're the wrong size. From everything i hear or read, this sounds like the right tire for me. Supposed to be good in the mud, plus you can still rock ride. my riding is mostly trails, lots of rock, creeks, mud (kinda sandy river mud), some technical stuff (that I'm not very good at), and some gravel logging roads. speed means absolutely nothing to me.

So, WHAT SIZE do I get and why? why shouldn't I just go with stock sizes, in the Bearclaws? why do people go to the 26 or 27's, or the wider sizes? will wider make tight trails harder to navigate? will wider stick out beyond fenders and cover me in crud? I'm not looking to win a bragging contest,i just want something practical. will the 26/27 make NOTICABLE change in ground clearance?

Last thing, who's got the best prices (through internet, unless there's any fellow canucks that know someone decent in Canada).

I would stick with stock sizes in the bear claws, and get them at rockymountainatv.com

I put stock sized Bear Claws on my Kodiak, and it made a world of difference over the stock Dunflats.

I then put 26"ers on my Vinson (stock size was also 25"). It made it look a little meaner. I didn't notice any power loss.

I got both sets from Rocky Mountain ATV.

I got some tires for my son's 300ex from Nebraska Tire, they sell blems, the only big thing is they have to buff the names off the tires to sell them. I got Titan Fast Trekkers, not a single problem with them, and only 25 bucks a tire. He said they also have the 589 mud tire and the 489 series for only 35 bucks a tire, check out their web site nebraskatire.com, see if they can help you out.

I was looking at replacing the tires on my 04 kodiak 450 with something a little more agressive, and after asking around I found most poeple here telling me that for my riding conditions which sound very similar to yours that 26 inch mudlites are the way to go. They are inexpensive and are a very good and tough all terrain tire. The 26 inch has a larger grip than the 25s so that is the reason for the move up in size, I don't think it makes a big difference in ground clearance. They are also a very light tire so you won't lose any top end. Stay off the paved roads like any other tire and they wear very well also. I can get them for about 70 bucks a piece at G. Bourqes in Moncton N.B.
