like captian carl said it really matters what kind of riding you dooutware a god idea for all around

run without a lid when its dry and just screw it back on when its wet thats what i do on my blaster

For your type of riding you should be using a foam filter. Definately NO lid. Unless you are going to try some mud boggin, in which case it doesn't matter what you have, you will be fine.
