lid or no lid?
i ride with my lid on with no outer cover just cuz i ride snow. if i didnt, i probably would ride without the lid and with a outr cover. with a k&n filter both would be a good idea, one doesnt have huge advantages over the other. just base it on what type of conditions you ride.

lid or no lid?
Ive never seen a racer run with a lid. now if you ride for recreation i suggest sticking with the lid,put in some holes and put a few uni filter inserts in there. thats better than anything else. the outer covers do not work as they seem to. i do engine coatings for aliving and i have seen what the outer wears really do.

lid or no lid?
Something I noticed when running without a lid was that dust and dirt seemed to get trapped in the box. I cut the box off and my filters stayed cleaner longer. Another benefit to running with no box at all vs. no lid is that water splash does not collect in the open box to get sucked in the carbs, it just blows off the filters as you ride. You should strongly consider going to foam though, if your not in sand all the time and still use outerwears to shed dirt and water.

lid or no lid?
NO LID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was at the Sand Mountain in Utah and had my Rappy for like 4 months til somebody suggested to take the lid off. I noticed such a huge difference! But, when i am riding in the dusty trails in the mountains, i keep my lid on, with six holes drilled in it. My filter didn't get very dirty at the dunes when i had it off..... i dont know if it was just because i was never trailing anyone or what.....
