Default Banshee Compression

I'm thinking about getting a coolhead for my Banshee. What do I gain by going with a smaller dome? I know it increases compression, will that give me more low end power? How about high end? What does it do to torque?

And what kind of gas do I need to run for the different dome sizes?

Thanks for answering if you do. Izord.

Its best to let us know what your setup is. Porting (and different types of porting) will vary what compression you have with what dome. what are you going to do with the bike?

Fair enough.

2002 Banshee with Toomey TR 6 pipe kit. I don't race but I do some Dunes, (Little Sahara, OK) and some Trails, and a lot of just playing around on near the lake (sandy beach). So I want a nice broad powerband.

But I'm hoping for a little more low end grunt. So that's why I was thinking about raising my compression. And at least with the cool head if I didn't like it I could go back to lower compression by changing the dome.

I'd rather not have to buy race gas though.

Thanks

Izord

As for gas about 160 is borderline haveing to mix race gas and premium. At about 170 straigt race gas. If you want to stay on pump stay around 150

You need 20cc domes. Topend will suffer slightly but bottom end will pick up. You should be able to run pump gas (93 octane) unless you advance your timing.

The squish band design and width is so much better on the aftermarket domes than the factory head. This alone will increase power. What I am saying is you can keep low compression by going with 22cc domes and still gain power due to dome design.

BTW, I recommend NOSS heads. That is what I run. He sells them on ebay. Very quality pieces.

Go to www.nossmachine.com they make a great cheap head. Talk to David Noss there he'll want to know you compression now, elevation, and any mods you have hell get you pretty close. But he'll probably tell you to go a size bigger because he likes to be safe when he talks to you.

Personally I would go with a mild increase of compression and get the +4 key or advance the timing about 4. That will help bottom end out a lot and smooth out the power delivery.
