Hey all. I was wondering what you guys think about my latest idea. A guy I know had his Raptor stolen a couple years ago. The insurance comapany paid him for the loss way back then. The Raptor was recovered last weekend over 400 miles away! The insurance company called him and asked if he would be interested in driving to their impound and taking a look at it and if he wanted to buy it back. Well, the engine was completely gone. Nothing. No electrical parts or exhaust. Nothing. Everything else was fine. He bought it back for $400.00
He bought another Raptor when his was stolen and since he knows that I build super powered quads in my spare time he offered it to me for $500.00. Now, I have a few different engines around here and was wondering how close a 1978 KZ900 engine would come to being fit into this frame. It's a 4 cylinder engine, but I measured it and it seemed to be able to fit, but I wanted to know who all has done this and if it would handle ok. I thought about using the engine from my old Toyota truck but I can't figure out how to split the frame in two pieces and have it fitted bak close to stock and also having to figure out how to get the flywheel connected to the rearend. I have looked at some websites of bikes that are called hogs that use chevy v8s, but I cant get a good look at how the engine is connected to the rearend. Anyway,I am getting off track here. If anyone can help me please do. And before anyone starts calling me crazy.remember that I am a cop. haha. ThankYou.

Go for a sled engine 2 stroke 2 cylinder like polaris RMK 800 you can buy a new crate engine for around 2500.00 add clutch's install and hang on ! Power to weight would be incredible . I raced with guy who ran KZ900 and 1000 they would spend upward of 3000 to 4000 K to get 160 to 180 HP and there still very HEAVY Then you need the butterfly clutch and all the goodies $$$$$$ cha~ching .
Sledengine with CVT drive is sweet hardest part is cooling it

Sirclip,
LOL......What ever happened to the quad you had before with the big Honda engine?[or was it a Yamaha?]
I would keep the Raptor as is until you find something more suitable for putting in there..........like another Raptor engine!
