Default Loc Tite removal

I have some RED loc tite that I need gone, I can't use heat.

The reason for no heat is because of the plastic gear on the back of the clutch basket.

Any suggestions???

I tried to soak them (the three allen bolts that go in a Hinson clutch basket) in acetone. I have had luck with it before, but not this time.
I tried to tap on the head (aka warm them up), but that didn't work either.
Now I have 2 out of 3 screws with stripped heads and I HAVE to get all three out, without messing up the clutch basket.

uhg. how about backing one off just a little then tighten it... then loosen... then tighten then loosen until the LT starts to break up. while your doing this, keep blasting it with air to get the LT flakes off the threads.

sorry not a very innovative idea...but it has worked for me in the past. when LT is cold...it sometimes flakes off if done properly.

I think that would work great if I could ever get them to move.
Right now they are frozen solid!!!

Try and hit the bolt with a hammer or drift punch while your appling pressure to remove it .
Get a buddy to help you . or try an air impact wrench .
One other thing try to turn it both directions .SOme times they will move forward ( tighten ) and then back off easier .
Good luck

Thanks for the advice guys!!!

The acetone dissolved what loc tite it could touch, but I guess it didn't penitrate....must be female allen bolts. Maybe the carb cleaner will be able to ease in the cracks better. And with the combination of the punch it might just do it.

I have given up for the day, before I lose any more skin/blood. I will see how it works out in the morning. I'll post back how it turns out.

Thanks again.

I need the bolt out. If I just ground the head off it wouldn't help my problem.

But thanks for the help.

I have a small butane torch that I got at Harbor Freight. It has a very small concentrated flame cone. I wonder if you could use something like that just on the head to heat only the bolt.
