Default New paddles and the effect on gearing...

My '03 Raptor (race pipe, rejetted, k&n no lid) runs strong and performs pretty well at Glamis with 20x10x10 8 paddle haulers. I am considering switching to a 22" paddle (haulers or sand stars) for better floatation, traction, and to match my 22" fronts.

First off, is this swap worthwhile? Will the taller tire work better, assuming I don't change the number of paddles or should I just stick with the 20" and save my money?

Second, my gearing is currently 12/40. Ho should I change this to compensate for the taller tire?

Thanks for any info or feedback you can give me.

Save your money and stick with what you have. I cant see how you will improve flotation or traction. Improving flotation can happen with tire pressure and/or tire width. You wont be improving either of these with the 22's unless they are wider. Traction improvements can be made with number of paddles or paddle geometry, some geometry helpful with turning whereas the straight paddles help you go up a hill fast. Throw the couple hundy towards a new high compression piston instead of new meats.
