Default Any Utah Riders?

Hey does anyone know of an actual track that the anyone(the public) can go to and race for fun in Utah? The only place i ve ever seen is a track out by Willard Bay but you have to have a private key to get in the gate.... Is there anywhere you can pay to get into a dirt track or does anyone know of a way to get a private key to one of those places?

I don't know how to get a key for the Hot Springs race track either so I will looking at this forum for the same answer. I am curious about your 686 Raptor. I have a stock Raptor and am thinking about getting a higher compression piston. What kind of gas do you need for the 11:1 piston? Do you know if we can run 91 octane with the 12:1 at this elevation? How much improvement did you get from all of your mods?

If you get a JE piston, you will have to get an 11:1 compresion piston if you want to run regular 91 Octane. I wanted to get the 12.5:1 but the guy at Carrey's Cycle told me that I would have to run race fuel and that would be fine with me down at the dunes, where i do a lot of racing, but I also do a lot of trail riding with my friends up here in Northern Utah, so it wouldn't make any sense to have to run race fuel all the time. Plus he said that he can't really tell that big of a difference between the two compressions, so i went with the 11:1. You might be able to pull of running a mixed fuel on a 12:1 on this elevation, but I wouldn't recomment it since there is a lot of problems that people are having with running too low of an octane where it cracks or puts holes in the piston. Um... With all the work ive done to my raptor, i've noticed a huge difference! With the 11:1 JE piston, Stage 2 HOt Cam, bored out to 102mm, and ported and polished. It can all be done for about $1100 including labor. I am currently getting a new rod which is more durable than the stock one, which I would recommend too. If the stock rod breaks, it can mess up the whole engine and you will be looking at even more $! You can get a CArillo Rod put in for another $300-$400.

There is a track in Delta that you can ride. It cost you 5.00 to ride, but they have water to hose it down. Do you run 91 in your 686? I run 11-1 and I mix 50/50 with race gas. I have found you don't have to be precise, but with my 12-1 I mix it exact.

Delta is the best track for quads in Utah. Not to jumpy and very fun. Click my sig for pics on my Dale and Raptor racing at Delta.. There is also a track in Goshen. That town is on Highway 6 about 8 miles west of !-15. That is the Santaquin exit to the dunes. Find the school on the north side of highway 6 and take the street directly to the south of the school till it ends. The road will deadend. There is some softball diamonds next to the track..

A very fun little track...

I don't know about the one in Fairfield - I'll bet it's bikes only. It's less technical than Deseret Peak, and a fun challenge on bikes. There's anther one south of of that out against the hills that we call "the free track". It's kinda wierd - you think you're going the right way and all of a sudden you're going up the landing of a jump. WTF?

To bad you can't ride a quad on the track in North Salt Lake out by the airport.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe quad run out @ Deseret Peak - but you'd better have some nads.

65' triple at the Fairfield track...

That's 5-Mile Pass way back there in the background.

You can also run quads on the free track in Price. You must ride the Price track at least once to experience "the drop".

Thanks for the info 02Raptor686. I run 100LL in my LT500 but I don't use it much for trail riding - just the dunes. Pump gas would be a lot easier and cheaper. Two week ago I went to Dumont with all of my machines - it cost me $40 for all of the pump gas in 3 machines and $160 for the 118 octane I needed for the LT500 at that elevation. I raced a 686 with the LT500 and got beat. He had an extended swing arm and would beat me out of the hole by 50 to 75 feet and I could not quite catch him before we got to the top. I could not keep the front end down. We had a great time with 75 degree days. I also have a couple of 660 Grizzlys that I would like to modify and wonder if anyone you know has raised the compression, put on a pipe or different cam.

Have you been to Fairfield recently? I have not been there in a while and had heard that it was no longer there. I know that he did allow quads. I saw som guy on a Predator there once doing pretty well on it.

BTW I could not get to your picture. Do you have a link to the album?
