Default Foam filter maintenance

As I posted below, I just got my new intake with foam filters, but now I need to oil the filters, anyone got any tips? The manual for my raptor says to use a "cleaning solvent" and to apply engine oil, but I dont like the sound of that. Can someone help?

I also need to know if I have to oil both parts of my filters. UNI foam filters have to parts, a red foam "sleeve" and you can take that off and you can see a black filter thats covering the spiral wires that give everything shape. PLEASE HELP I want to go riding today

In a pinch, engine oil will work, but it will quickly drip out and end up in the bottom of your air box, you are better off with foam oil, forms a tacky film that catches dirt a lot better, and stays put. oiling both foam layers will catch a lot more dirt, to clean, they make a spray cleaner, but Simple Green will work, but then you have to rinse it out and let it dry. Kerosene works fine, dries quicker, some use gas, but it can dry out the material of the filter, and make it break down over time.

On my old uni filter I just washed it in soapy water and let it air dry. Then I used the only oil I had, yamalube, and covered the filter generously.

Simple Green is a biodegradable degreaser that has a lot of uses, you can get it at Walmart, Kmart, hardware stores, larger grocery stores, auto parts stores, just about anywhere.
