Default NEW!Cryogen Kit (Nitro Substitute)

I read in a car magazine that the new thing in tuning cars is Cryogen,a Carbon dioxide-based engine power boosting kit similar to nitrous injection systems,so if there in rice burners they´ll eventually have kits for quads,right?...any comments or thoughts on the subject???
I think its made by "Nimbus Motorsport" and its called Cryogen´s Cry02.

So they took a paintball tank and hooked it up to an intake then charge 800 bucks?

carbon dioxide is a byproduct of combustion.........
seems like having an over abundance of this would hender performance ranther than enhance it.......

They are just increasing the charge size by cooling the intake/ intercooler/fuel off. You can do the same thing with dry ice a whole lot cheaper. If you run a supercharger or turbocharger they work fine, but for a N/A quad; no thanks, too heavy for such a small gain. You can add much more power with N2O.

Whats wrong with CO2? its cheap. Run a coil along the inside of the intake and make a purge setup. A full tank of CO2 is only about 2 bucks and the tank is only about 30. My 20oz takes about 1 minute to empty at a pretty good purge rate.

waht you wanna do is have the co2 and run it directly to the piston somhow and get it to burn before it mixes with the gas and then you will be a rocket

Co2 is inert it will not increase flame propagation if you run it into your intake your car would fall on it's face !
What they are using it for is to cool the intercoolers on turbo cars . You cool they air and it makes it dense. The denser the air the more oxygen more volume . You can also use it for cooling your fuel on the outside of the line not in it .
You have to have an oxider to increase flame propagation . Nitromethane carries it's own oxygen that's why it burns so damb hot

If C02 would burn you would blow your head off every time you poped open a diet pepsi while smoking a cig .
Ya C02 is what makes pop fizzzz

They are using Crogenics for tempering engine parts gun barrels all sorts of stuff .
But that is liquid Nitrogen .
Want to see something burn hot . Look up barbcueing with LOX liquid oxygen
See a guy melt a stell barbque down to the ground in about 3 seconds

In a car type setup, you can box the manifold. Easy to do on a V8 car. I have even seen people use regular ice. This makes for a mess when the ice melts. A quad is a different story. The intake is so short that there is not much surface area to do this with. Sure you can put a very small intercooler in the intake track but that is very restrictive.

Run a coil along the inside of the intake and make a purge setup.
This again is very restrictive.

Another problem with a setup like this is jetting. Where do you jet? If you dial in the jets when you are intercooling you will be rich when your tank runs out in about 30 /60 seconds. If you just leave your jets the way you run un-intercooled then things could get ugly when you intercool. I makes tunning very hard.

All in all, the gains are very small if your N/A. If you are blown or turbo'ed that is a different story, big gains here. If your feel the need to run heavy bottles, make sure it is filled with N2O not CO2!!!!!

Well you could make a little jacket around the intake and use CO2 to freeze the crap out of it. Cut a swirl pattern into the tract to get more of the air to touch it. If it was just in the intake and the blow off was controlled you could make it last a pretty long time. While were talking about crackhead ideas though, has anyone tried to use compressed from a paintball tank holding like 4500 psi to feed a motor in a drag race (of course regulate the pressure till its gets the right pressure at enough volume). Be like a poor mans turbo that only lasts for a few seconds and is only good for drag racing, but ohwell.
