Shee redlines at idle... :(
#1
I just got the shee put back together after pipe, carb, peg and nerf setup change. I bought the carbs used off ebay and are keihin pwk's, I'm guessing 30's that have been bored to 32's. When I start it it redlines, and I have to kill it within a few seconds. I tryed it with choke on and off and its the same thing. It might have been just a hair worse with the choke off or it might have been in my head. I am unfimiliar with these types of carbs, so it may be a simple solution, I just dont know how to fix it. What is the probem?? Thanks.

I CAN ALMOST GUARANTEE ITS YOUR PARKING BRAKE CABLE (the electric wire that comes out of your brake lever). CUT IT! THATS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MINE. I cut my PB wire and it idled like it should. Give it a try, i guarantee thats it, if not, tell me.

Im pretty sure screwing them in lowers the idle. There is some stock setting but I cant remember it. Its prolly on the keihin page though, or run a search on a search engine for PWK33 idle setting.

I wouldnt try messing with the carb until after you cut the PB wire. It was so simple and i was looking on ebay for CDIs because thats what the mechanic told me, but he was wrong.

All the electrical stuff has been removed. I have no parking brake, killswitch, lightswitch, or anything that goes along with it. I wish it was a simple as turning the choke but I dont think it is on pwk's.

I took it all back apart today and found one of my needles moves up and down about an 1/8 inch when I try and move it. Could this be whats making it rev? Could it have anything to do with being too lean or having air leaks? I ordered a new throttle cable too.
