Default Painting Plastics?

Krylon makes a paint called plastic fusion. It is very resitant to cracks, I've had it on my Raptor for almost a year and the only problem is it scratched through in a couple spots from my boots rubbing on it. But in all it cost me $12 to do the paint job. Thats alot better than $300 for new plastic.

You will need to buy a special paint that will flex. The stock plastics are a color all the way through, that is why they dont crack.

I tried using the fusion and it was crap. It would come off when you scraped it with your fingernail.

when you use the fusion, you have to let it set for 7 days or else it is very weak.

I dont think painting plastics is worth it, if you trail ride they just crack and flake off no matter what paint you use

like I said I've had mine for almost a year and it has not flaked or cracked. Just some scratches from my boots. And gas will ruin it. Otherwise I am extremely happy with my painted plastic.

I've painted some of my plastic. I used base coat clear coat same as the use on cars. But you have to use a flex agent in the paint. It holds up really good. It's not the cheapest paint. To make it hold up you need to make sure your plastic is clean. They make plastic prep to really get it clean.

howdy yes plastics can be painted. i work in a body shop and we paint them everyday.yes it will be expensive if you want it done right.sherwin williams has a product out that is a plastic cleaner that really helps with paint adhesion. thats why most people say there painted plastic scratches so easily. buy this stuff is not for sale to the general public so most people will never know about it. i suggest you take it to a body shop and ask to speak to there painter.most us guys are pretty friendlyand alot of them would enjoy doing a job like that. a break from cars.
