new warrior trash? help!
#1
please give me your opinions, i purchased a new 2000 warrior last month. it has less than 5 hours on it. it developed a loud noise in the top end so i took it to the dealer right away. they said the cam, rockers, valves ect. are shot due to lack of lubrication. 6 weeks to repair. i know it had plenty of oil in it since i purchased it, i took it easy on it all 5 hours.(i have 6 atv's, a dirt bike and a harley. i know how to break em in)
here is my question - dont you think that yamaha should give me a new machine, or at least a new engine rather than try to repair this one. who knows what other kind of damage was done that is not yet apparent. they tell me they can only repair the damge done. almost 5k and only two times out and its trash. now i got to wait 6 weeks!
has any one ever had a similar situation ?
how was it resolved?
thanks!

Sounds like a legit request. But they wouldn't even talk to me about my junk axle in my wolverine. Best advise that I have seen is call Yamaha everyday!! Loudest rocker gets the oil, oh, I mean squeaky wheel gets the grease.
GOOD LUCK! :O

MSTER,
As long as the dealer does quality work your repaired motor should be alright---but there was a reason the top end "**** the bed" , there is a small screw and washer on the head for making sure oil preasure is at the head---make sure you or the dealer check this before running very long
after the repair!!
Good Luck,

I agree with D0800; an adequately repaired engine should be fine. Also, dealers/manufacturers usually have a replace or repair "at their option" clause in their warranties.
Good tip about checking for top end oil pressure; my Kawasaki manual service goes as far as recommending cracking an oil line fitting while the engine runs to check for lubricant flow . . .

My 1987 Warrior after 3 months had a similiar breadown spent months in the shop waiting for it to get fixed. I am not sure exaclty what caused it happened 13 years ago, but it maybe had 10 hours on it when it died, they fixed it, but it took all summer, it never had any motor trouble again.
