Tellico Grizz 660: I really don't think that they can stop bikes that were already produced from rideing on Gov Land. They can stop ones that are produced after ward though. Do you really think that they will stop all of the snow mobiles, Jet skis and atv that people already own, from rideing them. Look at the rules about cars. I dont believe that old cars have to run catelitic converter. But new ones do. As for what the truth Is really dont know, but not sure anyone does.

yea keep the R for sure. They are all right, the r will hold value or go up as you ride it even if its condition decreases where as the YFZ will go down in value and down the road in a few years there will be somthing better if you want to get another racing thumper but your 250r will still be at the top of the 250 two stroke class thats never going to change. and its always going to be a kick *** quad. keep the R and if not sell it to me for 100 bucks cause thats all i have after i just bought my zilla. I just got it running and grand total of work parts and buy/shipping ringin in at 2600 bucks and i couldnt be happier.

Tellico Grizz, you make some good points. I like the yfz engine in the 250r frame idea, that would be awesome!
Addictedtomud, if I had to make the decision you have to make I would die, those are both nice quads. Sorry that doesn't help much but I don't know the answer either. If I were you I would do my own evaluation of which one I like the most, and make a decision and live with it, after all it's not your life it's just something you base your life upon!

The emisson laws will have to be grandfathered like cars I imagine and as old as a R is it should be excluded. I mean it to this day is still the quad todays quads are modeled after and trying to catch and it was around in the late 80s and tons of aftermarket stuff for it. Just my .02

it's hard not to keep a new machine over an old favorite, but sometimes you keep the one that make you the happiest, the old one! the new quad's are not that different from a 250r. i would take any new quad, but i would keep my favorite quad as long as i could(my LT500).

telli, sounds like you work for the ban on 2-stroke. you sure they don't have f class for you in alabam. these laws come & go without much change . know the history of all this crap. they can't possibly up hold all those new laws. the govt' is out of money. it's hard to enforce the law! like the speed limit.65 70 yeah right.

I could use some advice. I have to sell one of my two quads and I can't decide. Quad #1 is a TRX250r complete 2001 Roll Design Lobo frame, front and rear end with axis shocks setup for XC. Duncan motor, tricked out everything! Quad #2 is a 2004 YFZ450 pretty much stock except for GYTR exhaust, jetting and twist throttle. The R handles much better due to the LOBO chassis, but the YFZ has more torque and better traction. They are both a blast to ride in the woods and on XC course, and they both cost me about the same $$-----------------So which one do you think will lose more value over time? The demand for 250r's has dropped significantly since the ATVA rules changes banned them from pro level competition. Do you think they will ever "come back?" Or will the 2004 YFZ drop alot in value if they bump it up to 450cc in 2005? Any other issues I should consider? Thanks for your help...
