yfz450 sold out for the rest of the year!
Alot of you guys know this, so I'm not insulting your intelligence I promise.
ALL dealers are given the chance to order at the same time. That order will be ALL they get for that model's model year UNLESS Yamaha misjudges dealer orders in advance and have lefto overs.......in which case Yamaha Reps get on the phone to his dealers and try to sell the remaining inventory.
Here is an example of how it works.
Let's say the dealer orders 20 on his initial order. The way it would most likely break down is the 1st shipment would include 5, the 2nd shipment of 5, and the other 10 would be split over the next 6 months.
One major factor is how many Yamaha ALLOWS to be allocated to a dealer. If a dealer only sold 2 Raptors and 1 Banshee last year, Yamaha would not allow the dealer more than 5 YFZs at the max.
This is looking out for the dealer, because this dealer has proven to Yamaha that either he is uneducated in sportquads, has no major interest, or doesn't have the customer base for sport quads in his area.
We for example, carry Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM, and Cannondale [or Dinli or ATK....whatever you want to call them]
All of these manufacturers work off of this same basic principal.
We have 1 YFZ left on the floor with 3 more left to ome in April that will finish our 2004 YFZ order. I don't remember exactly right now, but we had just over 12 on our initial order last Fall.
And about the Honda......we STILL have not sold ours. We have 4 of them now with no prospects. The guys who had deposits on them transferred their deposits towards the purchase of YFZ450, but one guy who got a Z400 instead...[WTF?...LOL]
No exageration......just the truth.
Latest VINs indicate the YFZ to be in the 21,000 unit range while the last 450R came last week with a build date of late February and it's VIN is just in the 7,000 range.
I will post the range of our next YFZs when they ome in next month. Spoke with the Rep last week and they still haven't rolled off the line yet.
Soooo.....to answer the big question here. Yamaha hasn't sold out of the YFZs in regards to owners, but to dealers. If you can't find any of them locally now, try next month.

MNRAP,
Yes, we have already gotten the order forms for the 2005 models, but can only order quads that Yamaha is taking orders on.
Regarding the sport quads....The Banshee, Raptor 660R, and YFZ 450 are not yet being ordered. Once Yamaha releases the info on the 2005 models...they will give the dealer 30 days to work up his order and then Yamaha has to approve it. [same day[

The R's will sell quick....all those EX guy's think the R will let them keep with the rest of the pack now.
LOL.
It's not to hard to find a R or YFZ around here. I've looked at both of them in the past week. Talking to sales rep's at a couple dealerships, they said the initial rush for the R is dying down, and sales for the Banshee/Raptor/YFZ/R are all leveling out. No LE YFZ's yet.
So it's all pretty level around here.

From a drag racing stand point does the YFZ have a advantage over the TRX? I was looking at getting rid of my Lt and getting a new quad, I luv going out to the hill and racing at Glamis so I wanted to know which has a advantage over the other.
Thanks.
Thanks.
