Today I took my y2k kodiak for a ride and after about 5mph it starts to sputter, It happened right after 100 yards of full throtle, is it bad gas or something more serious???

Thanks in advance

Forest City eh.. Bought yours at Honda Northeast? thats where i bought my 00 kodiak. No sputtering here at 500 miles. Not sure what the problem is. Sounds liek the carb needs re-jetted. How old is it?

I've not heard of that before or experienced it at about 350 hard miles. Maybe a bad plug?

Mine did the same thing I rode it home and fueled up with some fresh gas problem went away probably put another 150 miles on it and not a single sputer since . Try fresh gas. mine started sputering after a long ride at full throttle too.

Sounds like it is either a fouled (or faulty plug)
or maybee a bit of dirt in the Carborator clean or replace the plug clean out the carborator and try some new fuel good luck!!

From what you described it could be suck'n air check both clamps on your carb and make sure there tight. It also could have got a little trash in the carb, drain it and see if that helps, before ya do anything else drain your carb again, might save ya little time and some gas. Good luck and let us know.

I ride with a oo' Kodiak and his sputters all the time, but mainly when he's down in a mud hole. I'm a mechanic and I have seen the same thing on old trucks with carbs. The jetting is just a little to rich and runs fine when it's not under a load, but when stressed the carb. loads up and starts to flood. It also does the same in reverse the dealer said it was a rev limiter, but another friend has a Grizzly and he can haul butt in reverse, so I'm not sure if it's a rev limiter.
