One that will open faster? It opens as fast as you push it...don't know how it can go any faster than that. A thumb throttle is a thumb throttle, I don't there there is such thing as a high performance one.

Was the vortex twisty not fast enough??? I ahve been thinking about getting one, but I am not sure if it will open my 44 or not.

clever remark but in reality throttles have ratios on them.
for instance i have a vortex twist it will open the carb 4x faster than a thumb
just cant get used to the twist

If it's a really big deal to you, and you're handy, shortening the lever inside the throttle housing would make it open faster. You'd have to becarefull of a couple thing, like over extending the pull, but I think its doable if you want to take the time.

I know of two different after market thumb throttles. One is the Terry Cable and the other is made by Moose. Tey can both be found at alba. I have heard good things about the Terry Cable one and not so good things about the Moose. BUT I don't think either one opens the carbs any more quickly...I am not 100% sure though.

oh lol, I've never had issues with the throttle not opening fast enough, I guess I've never needed anything faster. What exatcally is faster opening better for? I assume quicker throttle response and for larger bore carbs, right?

I couldn't imagine needing a faster opening throttle for the stock carbs, it seems pretty swuft to me. I know that it takes me alot longer (compared to the stock carbs) to go from idle to wide open on mine. My thumb has to move almost twice as far with this carb compared to the stock ones.
